Sometimes old school is just that- old! Yet the New Christy Minstrels have a new
CD that is anything but moth-ridden.

I have to remind myself that there are a handful of people who 'discover'
folk music every day. I know, it sounds crazy but it's true! For those who are
uninitiated, the CD Recycled from The New Christy Minstrels is a 101 crash-course
in the 1960's Folk Revival movement your parents regret. Yet amongst the free-love
and other free things was a music movement that has continued to inspire musicians
from all walks of life. Can you say "pillars of American music for the 20th
Century and beyond"?

The CD "Recycled" won't leave you feeling wrung out and generally
lost; lost in nostalgia or lost in a lack of cultural understanding. This is a CD
that speaks of the continued struggles to find personal identity, to celebrate what
we do right and to persuade our society to come together to change for the betterment
of the whole. Just in time for presidential elections and the microscopic view of
our country we tend to make during such political cycles!

Six of the original New Christy Minstrels return at peak performance levels, joined
by two new friends. Now, I have to tell you that I really hate to witness the decline
of master musicians do to the ravages of age and the rigors of the road. Hallelujah!
We have beautiful voices full of vim and vigor with the lessons of life perfectly
pitching them to perfection. These 'recycled' tunes are (dare I say it?!)
better than ever!

Join John Black this week as we delve into the gems from The New Christy Minstrels
newest release "Recycled" during High Plains Morning starting at 9:00
am Central time. Thanks to Randy Sparks (driving force for the project and resulting
tours as well as Main Minstrel) for the give away copies that Marc Anthony will
have for us on Monday, February 11th. Tune in and you might be able to grab one!
